German Oaks Switch To Dusseldorf
Thursday, 27th October 2005
In Europe, the 2006 German Oaks "has been moved from Hamburg to Dusseldorf, but will be run on its scheduled date of June 5 over its usual 2200m distance as the Grosser Henkel Preis der Diana," reported racingpost.co.uk. The Gr1 contest was run at Mulheim from 1948-2003, but its last 2 renewals have been at Hamburg. This 2nd relocation "ties in with a new sponsorship deal with Dusseldorf-based Henkel (one of Germany's biggest companies with involvement in many industrial sectors, most famously detergents & the Persil brand)".
