1st NZ-Bred Win To Freshman Postponed

Tuesday, 11th October 2005

In New Zealand, Auckland-based Stoney Bridge Stud's freshman sire Postponed (Summer Squall-Bridal Tea, by Gulch) recorded his 1st NZ-bred winner when 2YO colt Ifionlyhadtime (Postponed-Red Letter Day) scored over 880m at Ellerslie, reported NZ Thoroughbred Marketing. Ifionlyhadftime (ridden by Leith Innes for trainers Graeme Rogerson & Stephen Autridge) defeated the filly Chant (Traditionally-Chantenay) & gelding Another Luskin (Covetous-Another Roof). Ifionlyhadtime finished 2nd on debut (behind highly-rated Danehill juvenile Don Garcia) at Hastings in September. Postponed was a US$835,000 yearling at Saratoga (2nd highest colt at the sale); he subsequently won his 2YO debut over 7 furlongs at Belmont Park; & as a 3YO finished 5th in the Florida Derby before winning the Gr2 Peter Pan Stakes (9 furlongs) at Belmont.
