Horatio Nelson Wins French Gr1 Lagardere

Tuesday, 4th October 2005

Former Coolmore shuttler & ill-fated multiple champion sire Danehill (Danzig-Razyana, by His Majesty) added yet another international Gr1 triumph when Susan Magnier & Diane Nagle's unbeaten juvenile son Horatio Nelson (Danehill-Imagine, by Sadler's Wells) won France's €350,000 (A$560,000) Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (1400m) for 2YO colts at Longchamp. Front-running Horatio Nelson (ridden by Kieren Fallon for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated Opera Cape (Barathea-Optaria, by Song) & Mauralakana (Muhtathir-Jimkana, by Double Bed). Horatio Nelson now has 4 wins (also including Ireland's Gr2 Futurity Stakes at The Curragh in August) in 4 starts.
