ANACHEEVA (AUS)(Anabaa-Monroe Magic, by Zabeel)
Riverbank Farm, VIC. Fee: $3,300

Anacheeva Overview

Champion 3YO Miler and impressive winner of the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, Anacheeva has a solid stud record from small opportunities. With only a little more luck, Gr3 winner Ana Royale might have been a Gr1 winner, having placed in both the Gr1 Queensland Derby and Gr1 SAJC Scheweppes Oaks, while many of Anacheeva’s progeny are multiple city winners. For a fee of $3,300, Anacheeva represents an excellent chance for breeders on a tight budget to access a quality racehorse with a good progeny record.

Anacheeva showed promise early, winning a 2YO race and finishing fourth in the Gr1 Champagne Stakes, before his stellar 3YO season where he won three of his eight starts, the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas being the highlight, but he also picked up the Gr3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude, and the Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes, and was third in the Gr1 Australian Derby.

Anacheeva is by Gr1 July Cup winner Anabaa, sire of 88 stakes-winners including Anacheeva’s Gr1 Australian Derby-winning full brother Headturner. Anabaa was a versatile sire, and Anacheeva is showing the same ability to leave a range of progeny. Aside from Gr3 winner Ana Royale, Anacheeva has left horses like recent 2YO winners Anamova and The Housemaid, to sprinters like Hong Kong’s Nice Kick, versatile gallopers like Saucy Jack, Clean Acheeva, and Nacho Libre, through to tough stayers like five time winner Kothu Rotti who has won up to two miles.

Anacheeva is out of 2YO winning Zabeel mare Monroe Magic, who has been truly magic as a broodmare with four-stakes winners among her six winners. Gr1-winning full brothers Headturner and Anacheeva lead the bunch, followed by Gr1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce winner O’Marilyn, and Gr2 winner Kroner. This is the extensive New Zealand family that includes Viennetta, Golden Archer, Butterscotch, Mackintosh, and Tasman Dancer.

For a reasonable fee, Anacheeva is a top class racehorse who has a solid stud record from small numbers. His stock are versatile and he has crossed well with a wide range of broodmare sires.

  • Super Six Weeks For Riverbank Farm

    Thu, 18 Jul 2019

North-east Victoria’s Riverbank Farm is having its best run ever, with a flood of winners in the past 6 weeks from their resident stallions, led by Skilled, Anacheeva and Redente, reports tbv.com.au. With more than 14 winners recorded at national racetracks such as Flemington, Cranbourne, Bairnsdale, Scone and Fannie Bay, the winners roll includes Hurry Home Harry, Crimson Ace, Come On Carl, Engadine, Eagle Point and the homebred Beautiful Bee. In April this year, Fiscal Fantasy became Group winner number two for Skilled, when she won impressively in the Gr3 Manwatu Breeders Stakes at Awapuni, New Zealand. Just over a two hour drive from Melbourne, the family-run Riverbank Farm is situated opposite Benalla racecourse and was established around 30 years ago by Adrian and Dorothy Osborne. In September 2014, they handed the reins to their son, horse trainer Russell. Together with his wife Caroline, an equine vet and current TBV Board Member, they have established their own broodmare band and have a number of their own home-bred horses which are trained and raced by Russell. Their shared vision is for all clients to experience the thrill of breeding and owning a winning racehorse through offering top quality stallions at affordable prices.

  • Bon Aurum Returns To Riverbank Roster

    Mon, 20 May 2019

"A wonderful addition to the Riverbank roster," is how principal Dr Caroline Duddy describes Gr1 winner Bon Aurum who takes residence at the Benalla stud this spring where he will stand alongside Redente, Boulder City, Von Costa de Hero, Skilled, Wayed Zain and Anacheeva. "We are very excited to welcome him to Riverbank," Dr Duddy enthused, adding, “He offers exceptional value with the added bonus of having vet fees included if your mare stays with us." Remaining at the $5,500 fee he stood for during his debut season last spring, Bon Aurum served a quality book of mares including the stakes winners Hello Pamela and Tango Amigos, the dams of stakes winners Bons Away and Riziz as well as daughters of More Than Ready, Flying Spur, Commands, Red Ransom, Grand Lodge, Magnus, Bernardini, Rubiton, Hussonet, Street Sense and Lonhro. Described by trainer Ciaron Maher as "a tough horse, an exceptional athlete and a beautiful type," Bon Aurum (winner of almost $600,000) was bred and raced by Ken King who also raced his sire Bon Hoffa. Both horses claimed the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (a race also won by successful stallions Encosta de Lago, Testa Rossa and Exceed And Excel) - Bon Hoffa in 2007 with Bon Aurum saluting nine years later. The striking Bon Aurum is one of 151 winners sired by popular Bon Hoffa, whose progeny this season have won 65 races. Other impressive runners for Bon Hoffa include the exciting last start Country Championship winner Noble Boy (winner of six of his first seven starts), the in-form sprinter Bon Amis (winner of seven of his 15 starts including three of his last four) and the recent Adelaide Magic Millions 2Y0 Classic winner Done By Me. Hailing from a strong European family, Bon Aurum can boast amongst his relations the Gr1 gallopers Court Masterpiece (Sussex Stakes, Prix de la Foret) and Classic Park (Irish 1000 Guineas).

  • Star Fillies Could Tackle Males In Caulfield Guineas

    Wed, 8 Aug 2018

Two of last season’s most precocious and talented juvenile fillies are a chance to contest this year’s Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, predominantly the enclave of the 3YO colts. The Tony McEvoy-trained Sunlight (Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner & Gr1 Golden Slipper-placed) and Mick Price-trained Seabrook (Gr1 Champagne Stakes) are among 267 entries received for one of Melbourne’s major Spring 3YO events. Early favourite for the event has been Redoute’s Choice colt The Autumn Sun who monstered his rivals in lst season’s Gr1 JJ Atkins Stakes, however following nomination stage the market has been suspended. Previous recent entire winners of the Caulfield Guineas, generally considered a stallion-making event, include Mighty Boss, Divine Prophet, Press Statement, Shooting To Win, All Too Hard, Helmet, Anacheeva and Starspangledbanner.

  • Anacheeva To Stand At Riverbank Farm

    Mon, 30 Jul 2018

Following the recent announcement that Winx's half-brother Boulder City would be calling Victoria’s Riverbank Farm home, Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva will also stand at the Benalla property this spring. Despite his excellent racing and pedigree credentials, Anacheeva has never served large books of mares but owner Geoff Guest maintains the faith and is hopeful that a new home will see the ten-year-old afforded better opportunities. “He has shown that with the right mare he can produce a good horse," Guest said, pointing to his own success with home-bred Ana Royale, winner of the Gr3 SA Fillies Classic and two times Gr1-placed in the Australasian Oaks at Morphettville and the Queensland Derby at Doomben. Winner of one of Victoria's premier stallion making races, Anacheeva has his name on the Caulfield Guineas honour roll alongside the likes of Starspangledbanner, Lonhro, Show A Heart, Redoute's Choice, Grosvenor, Sovereign Red, Luskin Star, Vain, Ajax and Heroic. He is one of 88 stakes-winners sired by the outstanding Danzig stallion Anabaa. "Anacheeva is a nice addition to complement our existing stallion roster as he brings the bloodlines of Anabaa and hails from a superior family," said Riverbank Farm principal Dr Caroline Duddy, adding that "at a reduced service fee of $,3300 he provides great value for the owner breeder."

  • Webb Chasing Second QLD Gr1 Win

    Fri, 2 Jun 2017

Trainer Stuart Webb is not lacking confidence with promising filly Ana Royale despite the transfer of the Gr1 Queensland Oaks from Eagle Farm to Doomben tomorrow, reports Racing Queensland Webnews. The daughter of Anacheeva is coming off a last start win in the Gr3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m) at Morphettville on 20 May, after making up good late ground at her previous start when third to Egg Tart in the Gr1 Australasian Oaks. "I probably would have preferred the bigger Eagle Farm track over 2400 metres than coming back to 2200 metres at Doomben," Webb said. "But she was very effective in Group One class over 2000 metres two starts back so I haven't lost any confidence." Webb is chasing his second Group One victory in Queensland following his only previous success with Yosei in the 2011 Tatt's Tiara at Eagle Farm. Ana Royale is rated a $6.5 chance with TAB for tomorrow's fillies' classic.

  • Eulogy Stakes to Provide O'Marilyn Answer

    Wed, 26 Nov 2014

Trainer Stephen McKee is hoping his distance queries regarding top filly O'Marilynwill be answered when she has her next start in the Gr3 Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni on December 13, reports NZ Racing Desk. McKee was expecting the daughter of O'Reilly to confirm her 1600 metre ability in the Gr1 NZB 1,000 Guineas, but he left Riccarton none the wiser when she well beaten as favourite. O'Marilyn struggled on a surface that was cutting out, after scoring impressive Gr3 victories in the Gold Trail Stakes and the Sarten Memorial. "She only went 800 metres and she didn't handle the track at all so it wasn't any guide about the mile," McKee said. "We may look at the Eulogy Stakes and then we'll find out." He added, "She seems fine in herself and had a week off when she got home and she's back in work."O'Marilyn, a half-sister to Australian Derby winner Headturner, Australian Guineas winner Anacheeva& Gr2 Premiere Stakes winner Kroner from the Zabeel mare Monroe Magic, was purchased by McKee for NZ$130,000 at the 2013 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Cambridge Stud.

  • McKee Happy With Gr1 Filly Ahead Of Spring

    Thu, 24 Jul 2014

Trainer Stephen McKee has high hopes for well-bred filly O'Marilyn (O'Reilly-Monroe Magic, by Zabeel) and is aiming her at some of the feature 3YO fillies events in New Zealand over the spring. "O'Marilyn has had two pieces of faster work and she's coming up well," McKee told NZ Racing Desk. "She'll either run first-up in the Gold Trail Stakes or perhaps with a lead-up run, it depends how she does and the 1,000 Guineas will be her obvious main aim in the shorter term." O'Marilyn won two of her six starts this season and her victory in the Gr1 Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes at Awapuni confirmed her standing as the country's top juvenile filly. She was also runner-up in the Gr1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie and third in the Listed Karaka Million. "She's done well and physically she has developed over the neck and back end. She's not overly tall, but then she doesn't need to be," McKee added. By champion New Zealand sire O'Reilly, O'Marilyn is a half-sister to Australian Derby winner Headturner, Australian Guineas winner Anacheeva & Gr2 Premiere Stakes winner Kroner from the Zabeel mare Monroe Magic. O'Marilyn's early season target, the Gr1 NZB 1,000 Guineas (1600m), will be run at Riccarton Park on 14 November.

Beautifully bred 2YO filly O'Marilyn (O'Reilly-Monroe Magic, by Zabeel) earned her connections an early return on their investment when winning her debut by 1.7-lengths at Pukekohe Park on Wednesday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The daughter of O'Reilly is trained by Stephen McKee, whose father Trevor purchased the half-sister to 2006 Australian Derby winner and 2010 Caulfield Guineas winner Anacheeva for $130,000 at Karaka earlier this year. "She's pretty professional and jumped well to find the rail and that's what it's all about in these two-year-old races," Stephen McKee said. McKee also produced a debutant winner in the following race, when 3YO filly Pinzano (Pins-Martini, by Centaine) scored by 0.9-length in an 800m maiden. "This filly has always showed plenty, but she's had a few growing issues along the way," McKee said. Pinzano was a NZ$18,000 purchase by Go Racing Ltd at the 2012 NZB Select Yearling Sale.
